Blog Critique Party

I came across a link party at My Repurposed Life and decided to join.  It's a blog critique, and since I've been making some changes over the past several weeks, it was perfect timing.  I've still got a lot of things I want to add/change, but let me know what you think so far.  Here's the blurb on Gail's post:

Please take a look around my blog, check out the layout, pages, buttons, sidebar and gadgets. I would love for you to gently critique my blog. I’m hoping you will leave me some positive feedback about my blog. It would be great if you could give me constructive criticism but be sure to tell me what you like about my blog too! Do you like my pictures? Does my blog load quickly for you? How about the font? All tips and tidbits welcome!

  1. oh my goodness...LOVE your header...love the simplicity and the story. It is perfect! Your blog is very clean and easy to navigate.

I've been saying this on everybody's, but I would love to see a bigger photo on your about me section! I have to kind of squint to see you :)

I love that your top posts section looks cohesive...I really want to read your blog just based on your header...impressive... :)

  2. Hello! I love your header- very cute! And I like the clean look of your blog- the white background is nice and makes reading easy. And everything is easy to navigate. I agree, you need a little "about me" blurb!

  3. Hi!
I'm coming over from the party and am your newest follower :)
I agree with the above comments-- your header is absolutely adorable. It is simple and cute.
Everything looks great! My one comment is that your buttons from where you have been featured are a bit off. Some are double and some aren't. You can center the single ones by adding < center> at the start of the html code and putting at the end of each. (the html is minus the spaces... the comment police wouldn't let it post with it looking like real html

I'm with everyone else ... Your header is TOO cute! I smiled reading it! I love the clean and simple layout of your blog ... Makes your pictures stand out so much more! I love that you have pics beside of your popular posts ... really makes me want to click on them to see more!

Hope you have a happy weekend!

  5. I like it. Simple and clean. I like that the text space is wide too, easy to read and easy on the eyes. I can't give too many tips, as I'm pretty ignorant of all the intricacies. :)

  6. Thanks so much for linking up to our blog hop!
first, love the layout of your blog, it's clean and easy to look at.
second, love your header, and the name of your blog and the little explanation up top. It tells us a lot in just those few words.
I would love it if you would add a little about me blurb near your profile picture.
I also suggest you move your followers above your archives.
I recommend that you have your links open in a new window. When your visitors click and they leave your page, sometimes it's hard for them to remember where they came from. I can tell you how in an email if you're interested.
I also recommend that you subscribe to your comments, if you don't already (makes life a lot easier)
one last suggestion, if you haven't ever tried windows live writer, you should! I highly recommend it. It is so user friendly and I can give you tons of tips to make blogging more fun and much easier.
great pictures! funny about the 2 year scarf, and I LOVE that wreath, although I don't think I have the patience for it.
I hope you find that this experience was worthy of your time!

  8. Thank you my dear for linking up to out party. Gail and I LOVE meeting new bloggers here and there. The simplicity of your blog is sweet on the eyes and the timing element. I like the fact that I can easily cruise through your space to areas that I am interested in. Some gentle suggestions...in regards to your popular posts, some of the links were off or did not show a picture. I am not sure if this is my monitor or how the page loaded. Also becuase I am more than positive that you will be having more popular projects and be featured...consider a navi bar with links. This allows people new and old to easily find all these lovelies in one spot and free up your sidebar. Once again these are just gentle thoughts. I know that taking a risk and putting yourself out there is very scary, but you should feel so proud and empowered. I hope that you are not a no-reply when dealing with comments. I always love being able to respond to my bloggers. Also...if you need anything, Gail and I would love to help. Just let us know what we can do. :) Thank you again for joining our party.

Have a great finish to the weekend, and I hope this is the beginning of seeing more of you in little blog world. :)

    Cheers~

  9. Yarner! Awesome! I thought maybe that meant you made your own yarn, but either way, fun stuff! I love the step by step tutorial on how to make the hair bows, thank GOODNESS my oldest wasn't reading over my shoulder when I saw that or I'd have to bust out the ribbon right now! Anyways, I love your layout, I like how wide the page is and how you have the sidebar split up with the little dots. I think it's a great blog, keep it up!

  11. You are so creative! I, too, am a yarner (and a scrapbooker and a quilter and...)! I think it's a husband thing--they just don't understand! I love the header and the litle bird!

  12. Hello, super cute blog. I just love that little bird in the header. Maybe put a box around the header to separate it from the main article? I think your blog catch phrase is darling. Just like a husband to say something like that. Maybe it's my browser (Safari) but on my screen the words run into the pictures on your sidebar. Your profile pic is sweet. You look like someone I'd be friends with which makes me want to get to know you more.
